This end of summer in Crested Butte is looking different for our community than it has in the past. But I am thrilled to see how our local businesses have adapted and the community has come together. There are still plenty of fun things to do in Crested Butte right now and lots of visitors are still coming in. Several events are still going ahead with the guidelines in place in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy. But if you still prefer to socially distance there’s lots of nature around for you to enjoy solo as well!
I hope you are able to get out and enjoy these amazing festivities happening in August Community Insider Crested Butte!
Lower Meander Trail
My wife Francene and I recently had the chance to go mountain biking down the Lower Meander trail and I wanted to share it with you! The Lower Meander Trail was completed in the summer of 2014. If you haven’t had a chance to get out and enjoy this beautiful trail then this is the summer to do it! This addition extends the Meander trail out further and almost directly connects you to the Snodgrass trail. This is an excellent biking or hiking trail in the Crested Butte area and it’s a great place to see beautiful wildflowers too! Check out my video below if you want a little preview of this fantastic trail and the awesome views it offers.
Crested Butte Music Festival
Be sure to join in on the fun at the Crested Butte Music Festival. Even with safe Covid social distancing these events have something for everyone and it’s happening the whole month of August so you will have plenty of chances to attend. Check out their full calendar with all the events on their website https://crestedbuttemusicfestival.org/calendar/.
One event that you won’t want to miss out on is the Django Jeep ride with Nathan Royal. Grab your friends and your jeep and head off on a group off-roading adventure, and a concert! While you cruise around in your jeep you will hear world-class music in a beautiful setting! You will listen to Nathan Royal so expect an eclectic mix of old-school Western Swing, jazz, and folk songs. Be prepared to listen to some amazing music as you also enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding you! The fee for this event is $200 dollars which includes a box lunch! This event is 13+ so make sure anyone under 13 stays at home. You must provide your insurance and your own jeep for this event! This is one event you won’t want to miss out on! Another event hosted by the Crested Butte Music Festival is the Gypsy Jazz Camp! Ready to learn from gypsy jazz masters in Crested Butte, Colorado? Then get signed up for the Colorado Gypsy Jazz Camp which is August 3rd through August 8th. You can attend this event as an ensemble or join as an individual guitar, fiddle or bass player. There won’t be a genre of music you won’t play and enjoy at this camp! Housing is NOT provided at this camp so be sure to check out available lodging options in the town of Crested Butte!
