Christmas and the Holidays are a great time to be in the Crested Butte area this year. With lots of new snow and more in the forecast it should be a wonderful White Christmas in Crested Butte this year. The holidays are a special time for sure, and the opportunity to be with family and friends in Crested Butte and create lasting memories is what life is all about. In addition to downhill Alpine skiing there are an endless list of ways to Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Crested Butte & Mt. Crested Butte. Below is a list of activities and events to partake in during the holiday season, below are some of my ideas, some businesses that have special offers: Tonight – December 15th there is a parade down Elk Avenue and Tree lighting – Join Santa Claus, Bubba and Betty Bear for Light Up the Night tonight beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Crested Butte Visitor’s Center (corner of 6th Street and Elk Avenue). The UCC Choir will be caroling their way up Elk Avenue to the Christmas Tree in front of Brick Oven (between 2nd & 3rd Street on Elk Avenue). Santa will use his magic dust to light up the Town’s Christmas Tree. Santa will then lead the children and others up to the West End Public House to use his magic once more to light up the tree on the corner of Elk Avenue and 2nd Street. The Public is invited into the Public House to decorate cookies, hot chocolate, and holiday cheer while listening to the music of Tyler Hansen.
