Crested Butte 4th of July Fun
I really enjoy the Crested Butte 4th of July Fun Parade in Downtown Crested Butte. It is a special part of Crested Butte and another big party and celebration and an opportunity to dress up – and be proud of our town and our great country.
Throughout the day there will be live music and many delicious food and drink booths, but if that isn’t enough no worries, Elk Avenue is lined with great restaurants with outdoor seating where you can enjoy a meal while watching the parade! Crested Butte prides itself in being different from any other town so during the parade you can expect much laughter, fun and spontaneity like nothing else!
You never quite know what you will see in the parade, there are horses, clowns, dancers, motorcycles, bikes, Rotary Ducks. There are jumps, and zip lines through fire and much more.
Crested Butte 4th of July Parade
Be prepared for Elk Avenue to quickly fill up as people begin to line the street in anticipation of the famous Crested Butte 4th of July parade which begins at 11am. The sidewalks will be flooded with lawn chairs and families, in order to get a good spot on the sidewalk with your family it is advised to set up your lawn chairs or blankets an hour or two before the parade to ensure that you will have a good spot for you and your family.
Crested Butte Fireworks
Usually the night is topped off with 4th of July fireworks on Mt. Crested Butte! Grab a blanket and get a good spot with family and friends to lay out under the stars.

3rd and Elk Vendor Village and Food Court – Time: 10 am to 2:30 pm
Details: Come hungry and taste the wide variety of local and visiting fare in our food court. Grab a custom Crested Butte 4th of July T-shirt, get your face painted, and be sure to stop by our nonprofit booths to learn more about the amazing community of Crested Butte!
Parade – Time: 11 pm to 12 pm
Details: After you’ve filled your belly and are decked out for the parade, step over to Elk Ave and watch the country’s biggest small town parade march down our main street! Be on the lookout for our Crested Butte Fire Department rearing up the end, and follow them down to First Ave for an epic family water fight!
Free Performance from Tyler Hanson on 3rd and Elk – Time: 12:15- 2:30
Details: Local favorite, Tyler Hanson, will be joining us on 3rd and Elk with special guests. It will be a musical performance you do not want to miss!
Free Performance from Pandas and People on Mt. Crested Butte – Time: 7:30-9:15
Details: Join us on the lawn in front of the Red Lady Stage at Crested Butte Mountain Resort for a musical show the whole family will love! Butte 66 will be serving BBQ and drinks underneath the beautiful backdrop of our iconic mountain. This is the best location in Crested Butte to view the fireworks, which will immediately follow the show.
Fireworks – Time: 9:15
Details: Be sure to have your spot saved on the lawn of Crested Butte Mountain Resort to watch the amazing firework show sponsored by the Town of Mt. Crested Butte. This is one of the few times of the year the peak of Mt. CB is lit up- don’t miss it!

7-10 am Pancake Breakfast at the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Department
8 am Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3rd Marathon starts in Gothic and ends right at 3rd street and Elk Avenue. Cheer for the racers on the Rec Path or between 1st and 3rd streets on Elk Ave!
10 am-2:30 pm Food court, face painting, custom Crested Butte 4th of July t-shirts, and more at 3rd and Elk Ave
11 am Fourth of July Parade
12 pm Gothic to Crested Butte Marathon Awards at 3rd and Elk Ave
12:15-2:30 pm Live music from Tyler Hansen and guests at 3rd and Elk Ave
