The Ragged Mountain Stage, located in the heart of the Crested Butte Arts Festival at 3rd and Elk, hosts a wide variety of performances throughout the Festival weekend.   Friday night features blues from songstress Teresa Scorch and folk from local trio, Free the Honey.  Bring the kids out Saturday morning for The Story Pirates!  These story tellers bring to life stories created by children in the audience, teaching them the power and joy of writing.  Also performing Saturday are:

Rubber Duckie Race – Sunday at 2:00pm is the start of the Annual Rubber Duckie Race –  the ducks will be dumped into Coal Creek at Sopris and Second Ave, and continue through town until the winners reach the finish line at Totem Pole Park – Maroon and 3rd Avenue.  The Rubber Duckie Race is hosted by the Crested Butte / Mt. Crested Butte Rotary Club and is their sole fundraiser for the year.  Proceeds go to support local non-profits and over 20,0000 in scholarships to deserving Crested Butte kids.  Donations to get your Duck in the race are only $10 and can be purchased during the Arts Fest Weekend, and the ticket stub has a $10 credit toward food at three great restaurants in Crested Butte – Maxwells, Marchitellis and the Lil’s Sushi Bar & Grill.

Don’t miss the free Culinary Demonstrations featuring local and out-of-town chefs using a state-of-the-art VIKING Kitchen, right on Festival grounds!   The Culinary Court also offers amazing cuisine from local restaurants as well as out of town vendors.  Enjoy a fine adult beverage at the Beer and Wine Pavilion Located at 3rd/Elk. The Naked Grape will be providing wines and Oskar Blues will offer craft beers from 5-9 pm on Friday and 11 am – 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

As a premiere Arts Festival, there will also be many opportunities to interact and learn from showcasing artists.  Artist demonstrations will provide hands-on activities.  Visit Art Alley with the whole family for more opportunities to paint, create and explore your own artistic visions.

This is also a perfect opportunity to find some one of a kind artwork in a variety of media to liven up your Crested Butte home.  The Festival Art Auction features original works of art from participating artists.  The Art Auction Booth is prominently located in the Festival grounds for easy access.  The proceeds from the auction also benefit Crested Butte and go directly back into the community.  Proceeds are funneled into the Festival’s Art Education program plus the expansion and improvement of the festival itself.

Admission to the festival and most events are free but there are a few culinary classes and events that require purchase of advance tickets.  Learn more here.
