Event Details
The CB3P is a multi-sport, endurance race which spans the length of Gunnison Valley. It starts in Mt. Crested Butte and finishes in Gunnison, CO. With an uphill/downhill ski leg, bike leg, and kayak leg, the CB3P will take spectators and participants on a thrilling tour that follows the valley’s spring runoff path. Competitors will begin at Crested Butte Mountain Resort with an uphill/downhill ski race and will then transition to bikes which will carry them south on Highway 135. When competitors reach the banks of Gunnison River at the North Bridge put-in (across from Garlic Mike’s), they will then transition to kayaks and paddle to Gunnison Whitewater Park for an exciting race finish.
Competitors can race individually (doing each leg of the race on their own) or on teams relay-style (each team member does one leg of the race).
Competitors
- Individuals ($50); women and men can compete as individuals in the ‘Race’ or ‘Fun’ category. If entering as an individual, you’ll be racing all 3 legs of the race on your own.
- Teams ($90); women, men or mixed teams can compete relay-style. Teams must have a minimum of two and a maximum of three. If you register as a team, each member will race one leg of the race (or more if you only have two on your team).
Race Course
Ski Leg – Crested Butte Mountain Resort; the specific course is yet to be determined as it will mostly depend on snow conditions.
Bike Leg (about ) – Road ride from Mountaineer Square at Crested Butte Mountain Resort to the North Bridge put-on on Gunnison River (across the street from Garlic Mike’s).
Kayak Leg (approx ) – Paddle from the North Bank put-in on the Gunnison River to the Gunnison Whitewater Park.
CB3P Reuseable Bag & Poster
The first 50 competitors to register will receive a FREE reuseable canvas bag at the mandatory competitors’ meeting Saturday night! If you don’t attend, you won’t receive a bag (and you won’t be able to race) so be sure to be there! CB3P bags will also be available for purchase ($12) to the public at the CB3P Kick-Off Party on Saturday night and at the race finish on Sunday afternoon. The bag will feature a design based on this year’s CB3P poster. Click here to check it out! The 2013 CB3P Poster will also be on sale for $3.
