People planning to spend Thanksgiving at their Crested Butte homes should really check out the Crested Butte Nordic Center’s Thanksgiving Camp, held November 28th through 30th. You’ve probably noticed that we’ve written about the ski instruction aspect of the camp earlier. But there’s lots more to do!
Limber up with a Pilates class near Crested Butte homes on Friday from 7 to 8 a.m. It will be held at Western Pilates, located at 214 6th Street in the Ore Bucket Building. Cost for the class is $12. Experienced instructor Kenny Marks will lead the class with Nordic skiing in mind. Get help with awareness of core muscles, good posture, and spinal alignment. Proceeds from the class will benefit the Nordic Center.
On Friday evening, enjoy the Winter Kick-Off Film Night if you live in Crested Butte. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The films start at 7 p.m. Tickets are only $10. Watch the documentary Nord for Sola. Follow the adventures of two Norwegian surfers who spend the winter in a cove in the Arctic Circle. On Saturday evening, hang out with friends at the Winter Kick-Off Party and Silent Auction. Tickets sell out fast! The party begins at 6 p.m. at Secret Stash. Bid on great prizes while sampling delicious food and sipping fabulous drinks. Crested Butte Ski Area – Opening Day November 27

They are making snow every day – and we are hoping Mother Nature will add a couple of feet in the next 2 weeks as well… Regardless the it’s the start of 2013-2014 season and the lifts will start turning on November 27th! The resort is offering SKI FREE on Opening Day again this year. Just stop by the Main Ticket office at the Adventure Center to receive your free ticket and enjoy the early season slopes at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The resort will host live music and a fun celebration to kick off the new ski season with a “Blizzard of Oz,” theme, complete with a yellow brick road leading to the lift!
