January Crested Butte Community Insider
Happy 2021 everybody! The past year was interesting in many different ways but I am hopeful that the new year will be even better. I hope you all enjoyed a nice New Year’s celebration and are ready for what’s to come. COVID-19 is still a concern in the state of Colorado, but Gunnison County seems to be doing better than some other areas. Thankfully Crested Butte is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors while socially distancing. But there are also still some events going on this month. So find what you can do in January in Crested Butte by reading this January Crested Butte Community Insider!
ArtWalk Evenings with Crested Butte Center for the Arts
The Crested Butte Center for the Arts has continued to be a great driving force in our community. One of the things they are doing this month is Art Walk Evenings. On January 16th, between 5pm and 8pm, visit the Kinder Padon Gallery during ArtWalk, a self-guided tour of the galleries in downtown Crested Butte hosted by Artists of Crested Butte. As you leisurely stroll through the galleries, experience the diverse artistic expressions of local artists and be inspired by these special ArtWalk evenings. Click here for more information.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down and interview the new Executive Director of the Center for the Arts, Scott Palmer. If you want to see that interview and learn more about what the Center for the Arts does and what their goals are in 2021, click here.
Register for the Alley Loop Marathon
If you want to participate in the Alley Loop Nordic Marathon on February 6th and 7th you need to register now! 2021 Alley Loop events have received provisional approval from Gunnison County Public Health. So if your goal is to race the Alley Loop Nordic Marathon you need to make sure you sign up on time. The registration fees are lower if you’re an early bird and register in the beginning of January. For all the details on registration, information pertaining to COVID 19, and what happens if events are cancelled, click here.
Weekly Historic Walks

The Crested Butte Heritage Museum is continuing their weekly Saturday Downtown Historic walk tours. This is a great way to learn more about the history of our wonderful town and valley. Tours meet at 3pm in the garden next to the Museum at 4th and Elk Avenue. Tours cost $20 (members) and $25 (non-members) and last 1.5hrs to 2hrs. All proceeds support the Museum’s general operating fund. Registering upfront is highly encouraged due to the group size regulations changing often as a result of COVID-19. Click here to register and buy tickets.
