July Community Insider Crested Butte

July Community Insider Crested Butte

This summer in Crested Butte is looking different for our community but I still believe that people will come to visit and enjoy their time here. Unfortunately, the traditional 4th of July parade had to be canceled but the Chamber of Commerce has worked hard on an alternative. It’s great to see that there are many other events that are still happening this summer. For several events, the guidelines have been changed in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy. Hopefully, this Community Insider for July happening in Crested Butte offers you something fun to do this month in our community. I hope you are able to get out and enjoy these amazing summer festivities this month!

4th of July is Different This Year

July Community Insider Crested Butte

Instead of the normal parade, this year is a Passport Program from July 1 through July 8. You can pick up your passport at the Visitor’s Center during that time or contact events@cbchamber.com to receive a digital version by email. With the Passport Program, you do a self-guided walk locating highlighted destinations. It’s almost like a scavenger hunt! You receive stamps at certain businesses after finding locations or items. You can then turn in your passport to the Visitor’s Center and if you have 3 or more stamps you receive a prize! I’m so excited to see that we don’t have to totally cancel our 4th of July celebrations this year.

Crested Butte Farmers Market

July Community Insider Crested Butte

The Crested Butte Farmers Market is back this year so you can enjoy local fresh produce! They are dedicated to promoting agriculture and farm-to-consumer sales within Crested Butte. The market offers organic and naturally grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs, pasture-raised, and grass-finished meats. Vendors also sell hard ciders and wine, bread jellies, fresh-cut flowers, and many many more options. There are many safety guidelines in place to keep guests and local farmers safe. They are also working on an online ordering system to be able to get your fresh produce from the comfort of your home. Join this event every Sunday located at 100 & Zero Blocks of Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte. From 9 am to 10 am are the Senior Shopping Hour, specifically for the most vulnerable shoppers. Normal hours are from 10 am to 2 pm.

Crested Butte Wildflower Festival

Even COVID-19 can’t stop nature and so wildflowers will still be in abundance this year, just like normal! It’s therefore inevitable that the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival will still be happening from July 10 to July 19. In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy there will be fewer events than originally planned. Only events that are outdoors and do not require food, drink, or transportation are happening. Events are also limited to 8 participants. But you can still enjoy the walks, art workshops, photography classes and garden tours we’ve had in the past! Just make sure to register for everything beforehand to secure your spot. Check out their website for more information!

Grin And Bear It

Grin and Bear It is proud to announce that they are still running their 37th annual running of the Grin & Bear It! This is a summer fundraiser for the Crested Butte Nordic Team. This year will look a little different with social distancing guidelines in place. It won’t be a single day event, but rather an individual Trail Challenge throughout the entire month of July. The winner will be the contestant that completes the trail with the Fastest Known Time. Just in four easy steps, you will be ready to run the course: register online, create your profile, race the course anytime from July 1st – July 31st, and turn your time into the challenge leaderboard. For maps on the trails or to register for the race click here.
