Small businesses are able to open their doors and have customers back in. I am so excited that everything is opening back up! Of course, we are still practicing social distancing, wearing masks when we need to, and remembering to wash our hands while we are out in public. I am so proud to be a part of this community and how it has come together during this trying time we have all just went through. With summer finally here there are some local events happening that you don’t want to miss out on. Check out my June Community Insider In Crested Butte.
Many Events Cancelled This Summer
It is unfortunate but expected that many of the usual summer events have had to be canceled this year. The Fourth of July events, Crested Butte Arts Festival, weekly Alpenglow Concerts, Music on the Mountain, Crested Butte Food and Wine Festival, and several others will all not be happening this summer. This is certainly sad and might have an impact on visitors coming into Crested Butte, but it is also entirely understandable. However, there are still some events that might happen later in the summer or be held virtually. Both the Crested Butte Arts Festival and the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum’s Black and White Ball might be going online!
Mt. Crested Butte Summit
Thankfully nature and the beautiful outdoors are never canceled! I always highly recommend that everybody check out the beautiful hiking trails we are surrounded by. Mt. Crested Butte Summit is a short, steep, and rewarding hike! This hike begins by taking the Silver Queen lift from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort base up to 11,340 feet. This peak can also be hiked all the way from the base area for free. From this Summit, you will be rewarded with some of the best views in the area. Your views will include the surrounding mountains, the valley, and the towns surrounding Mt. Crested Butte. For more information on this trial click here!
Crested Butte and Surrounding Area Fishing Trips
What a better way to unwind during this stressful time than to go fishing! There are lots of amazing places to go fishing and fly-fishing around Crested Butte. If you’ve never been before I highly recommend you do a guided fishing trip. You can also choose to do a guided float trip. There are several companies you can choose from located here in Crested Butte and they are all passionate about fishing and showing off the gorgeous rivers and the fish they contain! Here’s a list of the fly fishing guides I tell people to check out:
- Dragonfly Anglers – in Crested Butte
- CB Anglers – in Crested Butte
- CB Mactrout – in Crested Butte
- Willowfly Anglers – in Almont
- Gene Taylors – GSO Fishing & High Mountain Drifters – in Gunnison
