An Interview with Peter Maxwell – Owner of Maxwells restaurant located in the heart of downtown Crested Butte

I took my family to Maxwells restaurant in historic downtown Crested Butte last night for Christmas dinner – as always it was excellent.  Maxwells is located in the heart of downtown Crested Butte on Elk Avenue. They feature hand cut high quality steaks, lamb chops, elk, pork chops, seafood, pasta, fresh garden salads and more. They also have a great menu for the kids.  Maxwells has a large selection of import and domestic beers as well as the largest wine selection in the valley, most collected by owner Peter Maxwell from around the world. It is a warm atmosphere, and one of the largest venues in Crested Butte – it is ideal for a intimate romantic dinner, or fun gathering for dining with large parties after a tireless day in the mountains.

Peter and Molly Maxwell not only run an excellent dining establishment, but have hosted many community events and countless local  fundraising efforts through the years.  Their restaurant may be in the heart of downtown, but Peter and Molly put their heart and soul into all that they do – and they do a lot to support this Crested Butte community.

Weddings & Large Parties – Maxwells also hosts many wedding receptions throughout the year – their dining room may be reserved for parties up to 180 people. Cost is very reasonable $40 to $55 per person depending on your selections, more depending on alcohol and wine choices.

This is a favorite for locals and second-homeowners. If you are visiting Crested Butte for the first time, or have not visited Maxwells, you need to go for a drink and an appetizer, or for a great meal after a long day of skiing.
