Crested Butte, Colorado is a special place located at the end of the valley in Gunnison County. A former coal mining town now a Historic resort town that is known for its charm, its warm community and festive attitude. Crested Butte is a destination for skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, golfing and a variety of other outdoor activities. It is a welcoming community made up of transplanted locals and second home owners, with a permanent population in town of about 1,500. Many people consider Crested Butte as “the last great Colorado ski town”. It is located at the North end of the Gunnison valley and includes both the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.

Mt. Crested Butte, CO

Mt. Crested Butte is the home of the Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) and a local population of about 800 residents. This population swells in the winter with many seasonal residents, and visitors who come to experience the awesome lift served skiing that is Mt Crested Butte. It is a short 3 mile drive or free shuttle (or bike ride) from the town of Crested Butte to the base area of the ski resort. Here you will find a bevy of activity in the winter ski season from mid November until early April. With hotels, conference facilities, condos, ski shops, restaurants, and bars all of your winter alpine skiing or boarding accommodations are conveniently located at the base of the mountain and just steps from the lifts.

Gunnison, CO

The historic city of Gunnison, Colorado is the county seat and the most populous city of Gunnison County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 5,854. It was named in honor of John W. Gunnison, a United States Army officer who surveyed for the transcontinental railroad in 1853.

Almont, CO

Almont, Colorado is home to some of the worlds best fly-fishing and a driver to the riverfront homesites in the area. The town of Almont is located on State Route 135 about 18 miles south of Crested Butte, and 10 miles north of Gunnison. The Taylor River and East River meet in Almont and become the Gunnison River as it flows southwest.
