Biery-Witt Center Video Interview Woody Sherwood – Executive Director
I got the opportunity to sit down with Woody Sherwood and get an update on the capital campaign and the vision and excitement in the community for the Biery-Witt Center, also know as the Mt. Crested Butte Performing Arts Center (MCBPAC).

What is the Biery-Witt Center? The Biery-Witt Center is a public / private partnership to create a 500 seat performing arts and events center in Mt. Crested Butte. It is envisioned to host events, conferences, conventions and be the home to the Crested Butte Music Festival.
Biery-Witt Center and The Center for the Arts? They Compliment each other – There was a study done and the programing, uses and needs of the two facilities are different, yet have wonderful benefits to having both facilities. The Biery-Witt Center with it’s 500 seat capacity and multi-functional use and location to the large bed base in Mt. Crested Butte will attract external events, visitors and be an engine for driving commerce. The new 225 seat Center for the Arts is focused primarily on internal users and events as a facility to support the local community. There is a small overlap in use, and many current and future events would benefit from having both of these great facilities.

Status of the Biery-Witt Capital Campaign – The capital campaign has raised over $24.1M against a goal of $27M. The board of directors has decided that when there is only $2M remaining they will bring back all the professionals (architects, designers, engineers, planners…) to finalize the plans and process to move forward on construction.
Thank you to the many donors who have made significant financial donations to allow these great facilities to become a reality.
Donate Now – There is only $2.9M remaining to achieve the $27M goal. If you want to make an impact in the Crested Butte Community this is a great project that will be a huge amenity and cornerstone of Crested Butte. This multi-functional facility will bring performing artists, conventions, conferences, visitors, and will be a great wedding venue (I have three daughters – and I am certain my wife and I will be celebrating with tears of joy in this great facility!).
