Established in 1939 and part of the original ski area, Pioneer Guest Cabins is the only cabin resort in Crested Butte. They are uniquely located inside the serene setting of the Gunnison National Forest but only eight miles away from downtown Crested Butte. With only eight cabins spread out over many acres, the Pioneer affords a feeling of privacy not often found at other cabin resorts. Set in the beautiful Elk Mountains and along pristine Cement Creek, you’ll find yourself nestled in fir, spruce and aspen groves at the base of the towering Cement Mountain.
These luxurious rustic log cabins in the woods don’t have TVs or in-room phones (so that you really get away from it all) but they do have modern bathrooms — with showers only, fully equipped kitchens, handmade wood furniture, and cozy down comforters on the beds. Each cabin also has a propane heater and a wood-burning stove or fireplace.
With two beds each, the four smaller cabins were built as part of a historic ski resort that closed in the early 1950s. The four larger cabins, built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, have three beds and more of a modern feel than the historic cabins.The other terrific amenities include:
