The Wooden Nickel is one of my favorite restaurants here in historic downtown Crested Butte. Eric Roemer is the owner of the Wooden Nickel and also one of my best friends. He has been in Crested Butte for over 40 years and is one of the nicest people – very representative of the charm and character of Crested Butte. There are so many great items on the menu at Wooden Nickel – but one of my very favorite things is the smoked trout appetizer. It comes with a very nice dill sauce, capers, onions, egg, & crackers..delicious!!
Did you know that The Wooden Nickel is Crested Butte’s oldest saloon?! Great bar, great wine list.
